Hello! My name is Chris Wall, a pastor at the Evangelical Covenant Church here in Attleboro and I’m helping to plan and lead our area’s annual Homeless Awareness Weekend. We want to invite you and your congregation to join us!
HAW is now in its 11th year raising awareness of the issues surrounding homeless in the area and raising funds to end it. All of the money we raise for the weekend goes to ministries and organizations working to house homeless individuals and address the underlying causes of homelessness.
To do that, local high school students from schools and youth groups spend two nights in the middle of November, the 10th to the 12th, sleeping in cardboard boxes on a field. By experiencing this small slice of homelessness, we’re trying to sensitize ourselves to the needs of people we may walk past every day but not think twice about. After that first chilly night on the field, we spend Saturday out in our towns raising awareness and funds by standing at street corners, asking for donations, and handing out information cards, or serving in soup kitchens and homeless shelters.
This is a unique and challenging experience for both our students and our leaders. It’s an opportunity to address a very real need in our communities and to serve those who need it the most. Would you consider joining us?
We will have an informational meeting at the Evangelical Covenant Church, 841 N Main St, Attleboro, MA, on Thursday, September 28th, at 6:30pm. If you have questions or would like more information, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We look forward to seeing you there!

The Attleboro Area Interfaith Collaborative is inviting your congregation or organization to participate in the annual CROP Hunger Walk on Sunday October 22 at 1pm, beginning and ending at LaSalette Shrine. Our goal is to raise $25,000, which will support the work of our local Food ‘n Friends Kitchens (25%) and the national and worldwide work of Church World Service in reducing hunger and poverty (75%). Around the world CWS supports sustainable grassroots development, disaster relief, refugee assistance, and educates and advocates on hunger related issues.
Instead of doing a Recruiters Rally in September there will be an information table for recruiters set up at our Food ‘n Friends kitchens on the following dates and times:
Tuesday September 19 from 4:00 – 5:30 pm at First Baptist Church, 52 North Main St., Mansfield, MA 02048
Wednesday September 20 from 3:30 – 5:00pm at First Baptist Church, 75 Park St., North Attleboro, MA 02760
Thursday September 21 from 4:00 – 5:30 pm at First Baptist Church, 118 South Main St., Attleboro, MA 02703
Materials will be available to encourage participation as well as help with on-line registration, which is the easiest way to do fundraising. After that week materials will be available from the Collaborative’s office at 95 Pine St., Attleboro (508-222-2933). The CROP website has lots of information, as well as a fundraising page for our own walk:
