Kids Summer Cafés

The Kids Summer Cafés are a Food n’ Friends program that combats childhood hunger by providing children a healthy lunch when school is not in session. Many children who receive free or reduced lunches during the school year face a high risk of hunger when school is out for the summer.

Free bagged lunches are distributed weekly at four local playgrounds to school-aged children. This year we initiated a fourth day for bagged lunches. The Kids Summer Cafés are both privately funded and a part of the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) which is a federally funded program administered by the Massachusetts Department of Education.

Here in Attleboro and Norton, SFSP is sponsored by the Attleboro Area Interfaith Collaborative, Food n’ Friends program. In the summertime, we invite kids eighteen and under to drop by any of our outdoor sites for a free, delicious and nutritionally balanced meal from 12noon – 1pm, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
