Essential Supplies When it comes to being homeless, Hank has seen the worst of it.“The winters were nightmares,” said the former Attleboro resident, 72, who spent seven years living in a tent. “The snow could be knee deep and so heavy it would bring the tent down.” Laid off from his job at age 55, Hank couldn’t find work and his money ran out leaving him to live on the street. Fortunately volunteers came to the rescue supplying him with a tent, a sleeping bag and other essentials.Staffers eventually helped Hank find a real apartment in North Attleboro with the aid of a federal grant several years ago. Homes with Heart, a program shared by Community Counseling of Bristol County and the Attleboro Area Interfaith Collaborative has since placed many other formerly homeless individuals in a similar way.
