Winter can be difficult for vulnerable populations, so we are very pleased that the city of Attleboro is providing a warming shelter this year for the homeless population. It will run out of the West Street Fire Station in Attleboro from 6 pm to 7 am. The Warming center is weather dependent, opening only when temperatures fall to 25 degrees or below and able to accommodate 20 individuals.
The warming center is in need of volunteers. The volunteers will work in two person shifts to oversee the guests. There will be 1 City Staff from the fire dept on call and on site if needed.
Shift 1 – 6 pm to 12 am
Shift 2 – 12 am – 3:30 am
Shift 3- 3:30 am – 7 am
Volunteers will be responsible for:
- Checking guests in/out
- Going over rules with the guests &
- Ensuring rules are followed
If you or anyone you know is interested in volunteering, please contact Pam Tarallo at 508-971- 2931 or by email at [email protected].
Many Thanks!
